Duaba Serwa - Season 1 2021

Duaba Serwa presented their latest collection titled Season 1 2021 in a digital showcase, taking to the current times.
In the words of the brand, this collection stays true to the Duaba Serwa essence, in Intricate yet understated design, which is visible throughout the collection in well finished pieces that affirm the respect for craftsmanship.
I’d like to start by the fact that the garments were made using sustainable practices, and the fabrics woven by a community of women from Burkina Faso.

Going through the collection, I couldn’t help but enjoy every look regardless of wether I could see myself wearing them. The silhouette of the pieces exude femininity and luxurious feel just by looking at them.

This collection featured a palette of purples, lavender, gold, pink, green, with some touches of gold hardware. The brand played with asymmetrical shapes, always taking care to accentuate the waist which emphasised the feminine and elegant feel of the garments.

I’m not sure which type of fabric was used, but from looking at it Id’d say cotton fibres were used for fabric product along with natural dyes. This is personally one of the greatest point of the collection that grounds the aesthetic of the garment in African heritage, remind me of the traditional African textiles that have been woven for generations and now more than ever the practice needs to be kept alive.

That being said, the Duaba Serwa woman is sophisticated, elegant, fun and of course stylish. If you resonate with that do check explore the collection below and let me know what you thought.
